The Healthcare Champion award recognizes initiatives that streamline the supply chain connecting treatments with patients.
The recipients of the 2018 Healthcare Champion Award fulfill this objective by developing synthetic bone and tissue for battlefield injuries. The brilliant minds behind this innovative science speed treatment for traumatic damage while increasing the chances of survival and recovery compared with previous options.
Made possible by funding from the Advanced Regenerative Manufacturing Institute (ARMI), a public-private consortium operated by the Department of Defense, the University of Florida leads efforts in the Southeastern United States for the Advanced Tissue Biofabrication Manufacturing Institute – promoting the manufacturing of tissues and living implants for numerous applications.
Dr. Angelini directs UF research efforts as Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering and the Co-Director of the UF Soft Matter Engineering Center.
